From the first time I saw one of the magical black and white Gypsy Horses, I was in love, and the dream to own one began. The Gypsy horses are a colorful, small, draft "fairy tale" breed, designed and bred by the Gypsy folk of England and Ireland. The dream became reality for me in 2009 when Deb and Jeff Gakstatter of Gypsy Elite agreed to sell me a beautiful black and white two yr. old filly named Sandi-Kay. Her sire is the stunning stallion, Pride and Joy, who is known as a "perfect example of Gypsy conformation." Sandi-Kay is sweet and gentle and now has been trained to ride and drive. She is going to be bred to the famous "Bees Knees" of LexLin Ranch in 2011. That breeding should produce a PERFECT classic black and white foal.
My dream continued when I was able to purchase a beautiful tri-colored Bay tobiano mare named Rose from Gypsy MVP. MVP purchased Rosie in England and imported her in the summer of 2009 with her foal at her side. In the fall she was bred to their amazing golden buckskin blagdon stallion named Sundance Kid. Rosie has a gorgeous thick, long mane and heavy feathers, as well as big beautiful expressive eyes. She arrived in TN in the early spring of 2010 and, in August, produced a beautiful, strong bay tobiano filly. Rosie is a perfect mother: she watches over her little girl who we named "Sundance Kid's Rosetta," but we call "Zettie." Zettie is now almost 5 months old and has outstanding conformation and wonderful facial markings. She has a striking blue chip in her right eye that came from Sundance Kid. She is friendly, curious, and very strong, and already has the famous gypsy "apple butt."
